Work Experience

At Saint Gabriel’s College, we really value preparing students for the world of work.

Work experience placements will give our students an opportunity to explore career opportunities and further embed vital employability skills for future success in the work place. This year, work experience will take place between Monday 1st July - Friday 5th of July

Saint Gabriel’s College works with Changing Education to provide placements for the students. However, they are not able to do so for the entire year group so we encourage students to find their own placements. Sometimes families are able to find work experience for their children through contacts at work, family and friends. If you are in a position to do this, please complete the section in the Changing Education App, noting the details of the placement and a contact that we can be in touch with. The deadline for arranging your own placements is Monday 22 April 2024.

A template letter for students to be able to contact potential work experience placements can be found here.

Work experience: Placements

We are aware that it may be more difficult than previous years to secure a Work Experience placement due to health and safety measures. Where placements cannot be secured through work, family or friends, we will aim to place students through our contacts at Changing Education, however, there are limited places and these may not be in line with students' preferred career paths. Students who do not secure a placement by the Monday 20th May deadline will be required to attend their usual lessons in school.

How do we support our students with their work experience placements?

  • All Year 10 students will have received a careers and work experience interview with Ms Martucci (Careers and Transition Coordinator)
  • Students engage with assemblies and careers advisories that give advice about how to find placements
  • All students have access to Unifrog - Students can use Unifrog at anytime to search for work experience advice, letter writing, CV writing and any other questions that they may have
  • Students have the opportunity to take part in employability workshops led by external organisations
  • Students attend work experience preparation visits to employers, if requested by the student or the company

For any further information about work experience or careers related enquiries, please contact our Careers and Transition Coordinator, Ms Martucci, on 0207 793 3922 or via email: gmartucci@saintgabrielscollege.org or Miss Fox via email: ncotter@saintgabrielscollege.org
